The Portuguese Algarve is one of the driest places in Europe, with over 300 days of sunshine annually. It's a relaxed destination that's perfect for a holiday with kids, with miles of sandy beaches and plenty to do for children and adults alike. The area is also known for its abundant wildlife and even at the height of the season it's easy to find a quiet spot.

What to Do With Kids on the Algarve
Algarve family holidays are usually based around beaches and there are wide expanses of sand with dunes to the eastern end of the Algarve, with more traditional beach resorts to the west. If your kids ever grow bored of the beach there are plenty of other things on the Algarve to keep them occupied.
Located just inland from Albufeira, the Zoomarine park is a mix of zoo, education centre and theme park - the perfect family holiday activity. Book ahead if you want the opportunity to swim with dolphins, or just have a fun day out watching the dolphin and sea lion shows, riding the big wheel and other family-friendly fairground rides, or learning about ocean conservation in the aquarium. There's also an onsite water park, with its own wave pool and water slides to help you and the kids cool off in warmer weather.
If your kids are into history, they will love a day out at Silves. The town is dominated by the huge red brick 7th century castle and the views from the battlements are impressive. Inside the castle there is a small museum and the ornamental gardens are both relaxing and historically authentic. In the narrow streets around the castle you'll find shops selling traditional Portuguese goods and plenty of cafes for a refreshing drink.
3. Parque Aventura
There are four separate Parque Aventura sites across the Algarve, all offering the same combination of high ropes courses for an adrenaline-packed afternoon swinging and climbing through the treetops.
