Weekend Breaks in Anglesey

With its large expanse of golden sand and easy accessibility, Benllech Bay is understandably popular with families. There's no better beach on Anglesey to build sandcastles, dig out badminton rackets, or try some bodyboarding, and finding space is rarely an issue.

Rhosneigr is one of the UK's premier windsurfing spots. With its beautiful dunes and boardwalk paths around the lake in the Llyn Maelog​ reserve, it's just as enjoyable for those who aren't keen on donning their wetsuit.

Standing opposite Bangor on the Menai Straits, Beaumaris Castle was built by Edward I in the 13th century in a bid to dominate northern Wales. It's still an impressively sturdy construction - even if the actual design was never quite completed.

Once a bustling city of 10,000 people, Amlwch is now a living museum to Wales' industrial heritage. Learn about the 'Copper Kingdom' (once a major source of raw materials for the Industrial Revolution) and the port at the town museum, and visit one of three beautiful windmills for a fascinating history lesson.

Charmingly laid out, this one-acre site includes downsized versions of the island's famous landmarks, as well as a model railway which runs across the site. The gardens alone are worth a visit, while the tea room is the perfect mid-trip pitstop.
