Lake Buttermere
The area's main attractions are its lakes. Set off from your holiday accommodation for a glorious hike around Lake Buttermere. There are also fine walks to be had along the nearby summit of Red Pike.
St James' Church
Admire the memorial to Alfred Wainwright in this little church. A famous local walker and author, the church overlooks his favourite spot, Haystacks Hill.
Force Crag Mine
Take a drive from your Buttermere holiday cottage to Force Crag Mine, a source of lead and zinc that was abandoned in 1991. Explore the mine buildings while discovering the Lake District's industrial heritage.
Theatre by the Lake
A short drive from your holiday accommodation you'll find the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. Overlooking Derwentwater, and surrounded by fells, the theatre offers productions throughout the year. The gallery and cafe are open during the day, so head there early to make the most of your time.
Moss Force Waterfall
You can't visit Buttermere without taking in the natural beauty of your surroundings, including the Moss Force Waterfall. Just 200 metres from the road it's one of the most accessible waterfalls in the Lake District.
