Best Cotswolds Weekend Break Recommendations

Best Cotswolds Weekend Break Recommendations

From lively market towns to peaceful villages, the Cotswolds offers enough variety to entertain as part of a weekend break. You'll have 3,000 miles of walking paths, prominent country houses and arboretums to explore. And here are three more great ways to spend weekend breaks in the Cotswolds.

  1. Winchcombe

Enjoy a stroll around Winchcombe's town centre and admire the typical Cotswold stone buildings, or learn about 1000 years of Royal History at Sudeley Castle. There are also pottery and railway museums, and many footpaths to explore. Visitors should also climb the Cotswold Scarp for outstanding views, or attend the annual walking festival in May.

  2. Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park

Alongside his TV appearances on BBC's Countryfile, Adam Henson runs this wonderful farm and visitor attraction, near Cheltenham. Home to many rare breed farm animals, and other species of all shapes and sizes, this is an especially good option for a family day out. Enjoy the wildlife walk, animal barns (with cute baby animals), farming demonstrations and 'safari-style' tour of the whole farm park. It's best accessed by car, or via a 20-minute taxi ride from Moreton-on-the-Marsh train station.

  3. Snowshill Manor and Garden

One of the National Trust treasures in the Cotswolds, this historic manor house near Broadway houses the extraordinary possessions of Edwardian owner Charles Paget Wade, who collected anything from small toys to Samurai armour. While in Broadway, why not check out the local craft shops and see if you can name all 12 counties that can be seen from the top of Broadway Tower.
