The Palace Pier is very conveniently located for reaching the rest of Brighton. As it's a quick walk from the train station, you can make it your first stop on a day out in the city and then spend the rest of your visit shopping and seeing the sights.

Churchill Square is Brighton's main shopping centre, with a huge variety of stores and a great food court. Alternatively, look for unique bargains at the boutiques and market stalls in the Laines, a network of traditional shopping streets.

Just along the promenade is this viewing tower that takes you high above Brighton. You'll get fantastic views across this attractive city, as well as out to the magnificent South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It reaches a height of 162m. in the air.

3. Royal Pavilion
This intriguing example of Regency architecture is a former royal palace, built for George IV in the 19th century. It resembles a grand Indian residence, with examples of exotic interior decorating, such as Chinoiserie, which were popular at the time. Thanks to its unique style, the Royal Pavilion is an icon of the city of Brighton.
