Brooklyn Bridge Accommodation

Construction of the Brooklyn Bridge started in 1869 following the plans drawn up by German immigrant John Augustus Roebling. The bridge features suspended cables attached to the two limestone and granite towers and various passageways and vaults which were used to store wine. The bridge has been a National Historic Landmark since 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark since 1972. It is a hybrid pedestrian, bicycle and motorway bridge.
