Ancient history

Armenistis is one of the largest and most attractive of Halkidiki's beaches. If you are in search of the best diving head to Pefkohori, a verdant spot with a white sandy beach and exceptional diving club. if you are in search of a more secluded beach, Zografou is the place. This small but perfectly formed pebble beach is hugged by cliffs and the water here is crystal clear.

Carnivals and crossings

One of Halkidiki's most important summer festivals is the Sani Festival, which sees an array of concerts, theatre and art exhibitions pop up all over the region. The Carnival of Polygiros is another one to mark in the diary. Villages across Halkidiki host treasure hunts, parades and colourful celebrations.

Watch ancient Greek dramas in the atmospheric Theatre of Siviri, which hosts the Festival of Kassandra annually. Very keen swimmers can challenge themselves with a 26 kilometre swim from Kallithea Beach to Nikiti during International Swim Crossing of Toroneos Gulf.
