When in Greece, an old fashioned ouzeri (tavern) is what it's all about. You can find a great one in the backstreets of Mandraki on Nisyros. Tuck into seafood in the garden overlooking the locals' vegetable patches.

Just outside of Kos Town, you'll find the serene mountain village Asfendiou, an altogether quieter spot. Take a look at Kos' Crusader castle too, along with the remnants of an ancient agora. Take a boat trip across sparkling Navlakas fjord to the sapphire-like Perasta grotto.

Voyage to Nisyros and Emboryos, with their magnificent views into a vast volcanic crater and out over the sparkling ocean. Nearby Pserimos is known for its golden beaches.
