Useful information for your visit to Old Trafford
Old Trafford is open throughout the week for visitors to book a space on the tour, get some souvenirs in the shop or just take selfies by the stadium sign. If you are planning on visiting, then a bit of forward planning will avoid any own goals.

1. Stadium Tour
The most popular thing to do at Old Trafford is the tour, available on days when there is no match. Tours take you behind the scenes and into places the public generally don't see, such as the manager's dugout, players' changing rooms and the press room. Tours provide the opportunity to experience the trophy room, packed with glittering silverware.

2. Cafe and Shop
If you can't get a place on the popular tour, the club's shop and cafe are open to the public. Pick up some Manchester United themed souvenirs to take home, or enjoy breakfast or a light lunch in the Red Cafe.

3. Getting There
If you are travelling to the ground from the city centre, public transport is usually best, especially on match days. Take a train to the Manchester United Football Ground station right outside the ground from Manchester Piccadilly station, or the Metrolink tram service to Old Trafford, about 10 minutes' walk away.
Best things to do near Old Trafford
Old Trafford is just a short distance from Manchester city centre and even closer to the Salford Quays complex. There is lots to do in the local area, whether your interests are modern art, history or shopping.

1. Trafford Centre
Just two miles from Old Trafford, the Trafford Centre is one of the largest shopping complexes in the UK. The centre is open until 10pm daily and in addition to 280 retail outlets, the centre has restaurants, bars and a large cinema.

2. IWM North
The modern building which houses the Imperial War Museum North houses both permanent and temporary exhibitions on all aspects of conflict and war. Admission is free to permanent exhibitions and there are regular themed tours and events.

3. The Lowry
Located over the river at Salford Quays, the Lowry complex combines shopping, hotel accommodation, museums and galleries. Alongside famous works by the artist who the complex is named after, visitors can see ever-changing exhibitions of contemporary art from around the UK and beyond. There is also a shop selling a range of Lowry and Manchester-themed merchandise.
