Attractions for children

The Nene Valley steam railway takes visitors on journeys between Peterborough and Yarwell through a rail tunnel built in 1845. There are trips every weekend including special afternoon tea trains and regular appearances by Thomas the Tank Engine. Nene Park is a large open space on the outskirts of Peterborough; it is home to several walking routes, children's play areas, a boating lake and lots of local wildlife.

The highlight of any holiday in the Peterborough area is a visit to the magnificent 12th century Peterborough Cathedral. The 12th century building has an impressive facade with three large Gothic arches and a beautifully ornate interior. Head further back in time and visit Flag Fen Archaeology Park where holidaymakers can see for themselves the remains of a 3000-year-old causeway, as well as visiting a reconstructed prehistoric home.
