1. Cairngorm

   The largest skiing area in Scotland is centrally located in the Highlands and close to the town of Aviemore. The season generally runs from December to April. Cairngorm offers a wide range of skiing options with a mix of gentle runs for beginners, to eight red and one black run for those relishing a challenge. There is plenty of accommodation as well as bars and restaurants in Aviemore and the surrounding villages.

2. Nevis Range

   This range, which includes Ben Nevis, is higher than the Cairngorms and offers skiing later into the year than other parts of Scotland. Nevis Range is famous for the off-piste Black Corries, offering some of Scotland's most challenging skiing and, when snow conditions are poor, there is also an artificial slope to practise on. 3. Glencoe

   Glencoe is slightly inland from the Nevis Range and features some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Scotland. This is the ideal spot for skiing beginners, as the plateau area is relatively flat. There are 20 ski runs in total and free sledge hire for those wishing to take it easy.
