Getting to Sifnos

There's no airport in Sifnos, which is no bad thing; it means it you won't encounter the crowds found on Corfu or Crete. International travellers should fly to the Greek capital, Athens.

From Athens visitors should transfer to the nearby port of Piraeus, where there are daily ferry crossings to Sifnos, taking as little as four hours. Sifnos is also connected by ferry to other Cycladic islands including Milos, Serifos and Kimolos.

Once on the island, visitors can use the excellent bus network which connects the capital, Apollonia, with the other towns and villages. It's also possible to hire or car, or even a bike to explore parts of the island most visitors don't see.
