Lying on Israel's Mediterranean coast, Tel Aviv is a city that blends ancient history, modern architecture and a thriving art scene. But it isn't just a place that can be enjoyed for its history - it's also a city with incredible beaches, warm Mediterranean air, and a perfect place for finding accommodation for a beachside holiday. It's almost the perfect size too, which means it retains a more comfortable, old-timey feel than other big cities in the Middle East.

An Ancient City with a Killer Nightlife

If it's a night in the town you're after, then Tel Aviv is the place to go. It's known across Israel as a party town, but that doesn't mean it's raucous - expect a chilled vibe wherever you go. And you'll never be far from your holiday cottage, either.

One of our favourites is the Teder.fm bar. A club, bar, and radio station. There's a pizzeria inside, too, as well as a fish restaurant, and the music plays all night.

When searching for an outdoor party, the best option is to visit Tel Aviv during Gay Pride. The parade winds through the city (and near lots of holiday cottages) and ends with some of the best parties in the world.

History Old and New: What to Do in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a city divided into clear, diverse districts, each of which has a different feel, and so one of the best things to do of a day is to just wander around a few of them to soak up the vibe. The different areas have different accommodation offerings, too.

Neve Tzedek, one of the oldest areas of the city, is full of buzzing boutiques and ice cream parlours, while Jaffa's Old City is a real middle-eastern maze, including an excellent flea market. A very good spot to find accommodation.

The White City is another must-see. Mostly constructed in the early 20th century, the area is a UNESCO heritage site and is full of fabulous Bauhaus architecture. There's a Bauhaus museum to visit and plenty of accommodation, too.
