Most of the golf courses in Tenerife are around the coast, as the middle of the island is very mountainous. 1. Buenavista Golf

   Buenavista is perhaps the best-known of all the Tenerife golf courses and is located in the north west of the island. The course was designed by Spanish golf legend Severiano Ballesteros, with environmental protection in mind. It provides a challenging round of golf, made even more difficult by the unpredictable winds on this part of the island.

2. Golf Las Americas

   This is the course often known as the water obstacle course due to the large number of lakes and water features. It's a gently sloping, par 72 course on the outskirts of the busy town of Playa de las Americas on the south western tip of Tenerifte. If you haven't time for a full 18 holes, practise your skills on the putting green or driving range instead.

3. Real Club de Golf de Tenerife

   One of Spain's oldest golf clubs, Real Tenerife was founded in 1932 and has previously hosted the Spanish Open. Deep ravines will catch out the unwary, in total contrast to the wide fairways and mature trees. Green fees here, as with many Canary Islands courses, are cheaper between May and September.
