History and Harry Potter
Harry Potter fans and those who have a passion for steam trains will want to make the journey from Ben Nevis to Mallaig which takes in the majestic sweep of the Glenfinnan viaduct. You can also drive to Glenfinnan itself to get a view of the viaduct from below, as well as visiting the Glenfinnan Monument, which marks the location where Bonnie Prince Charlie came ashore ahead of the Jacobite rebellion. If you are lucky enough to have good weather the beaches at Mallaig and Arisaig are stunning and are famed for their silver-white sands.

Fort William is the main town in Lochaber and is dominated by the looming presence of Ben Nevis, Scotland's tallest mountain. If you have a good level of fitness, and decent walking boots, it is relatively easy to ascend via the well-constructed mountain track but make sure you take adequate precautions against the changeable Scottish weather.
