Crane Point Museum
These tropical woodlands contain hardwoods, including Lignum Vitae, Jamaican Dogwood and native thatch palms, that grow in no other place in the United States. Created in 1976 by a group of citizens determined to preserve the woodland known as hardwood hammocks, the nature trails and museum here are a fascinating insight into conservationism.
Dolphin Research Centre
See dolphins and sea lions in their natural habitat on the coast at this educational research centre. Watch the dolphins play in the water and even swim with them in specially designed pools. Leap like the dolphins at your chance to come face to face with these amazing animals.
Seven Mile Bridge
The longest oversea highway bridge, Seven Mile stretches between the islands of Florida Keys. Opened in 1982, the bridge has since featured in films including True Lies, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and James Bond - Licence to Kill. Every April a marathon is run over this scenic stretch of highway.
Curry Hammock State Park
This is the largest uninhabited area of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key. Mangrove swamps, hammocks, and seagrasses vital to the local ecosystem are protected, but you can still kayak and paddleboard through this pristine stretch of land. On the ocean, windsurfers and kiteboarders make some spray.
Grassy Key
The northernmost island in the Florida Keys archipelago, Grassy Key is named after one of the island's original settlers, rather than the grasses that (somewhat misleadingly) thrive on the coastal bluffs of this incredible natural beauty spot.
