Description

Malton 3 miles. A magnificent, limestone, Georgian property, set in lovely grounds in the small village of Amotherby, three miles from the pretty market town of Malton, the food capital of the north. Occupying the major part of this stunning Malton holiday cottage, it is the perfect place for family groups and friends to stay and enjoy time together in luxurious surroundings. You step inside this beautiful holiday cottage near Malton, to a wealth of period features, with high ornate ceilings, original fireplaces, window shutters and sash windows. Each room has been tastefully decorated and styled and exquisitely furnished with antiques, providing first-class accommodation. The elegant dining room provides a lovely sociable room to sit and chat around the table in front of the roaring open fire, whilst offering additional comfy seating and TV, giving plenty of room to spread out. The well-equipped kitchen of this Malton holiday cottage boasts an electric cooker and an AGA in the winter months, with a small breakfast room. The fabulous, spacious main sitting room overlooks the garden and with its open fire and sumptuous seating, is ideal to sit and relax in after a busy day exploring the area. The property also offers a lovely open courtyard with a hot tub and garden furniture. Upstairs in this Malton holiday cottage, are six charming individual bedrooms, three with four poster beds and three with en-suites. Outside this immaculate Malton holiday cottage, the gardens wrap around the property, with lawns and an orchard, perfect for alfresco dining or to enjoy a glass of wine! A three minute stroll brings you to the local pub which serves good ales and Cantonese food, whilst the bustling town of Malton offers an excellent array of restaurants, tempting tea rooms and a weekly market. The stately home and gardens of Castle Howard (from Brideshead Revisited) are just four miles from this Malton holiday cottage and well worth visiting, whilst the beautiful surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers and cyclists. Well placed for exploring the historic city of York and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, this Malton holiday cottage suits all the family.
The town of Malton has many interesting buildings including the old Corn Exchange and Assembly Rooms. A weekly market is still held in the town, as well as livestock and farmers' markets. The Yorkshire Moors are to the north, and the Yorkshire Wolds are to the south, making it excellent country for walkers and cyclists.

‘A beautiful house set within lovely grounds, very clean with a lot of character, in a great location! The room I stayed was just stunning and the bath was nothing but perfect. Great Chinese and pub nearby. Owner was lovely and very helpful with any questions.’

‘We booked Old Station Farm for my partner's 60th birthday celebration. ” It was ideal for our party of a dozen. The cottage is very well-equipped, particularly the kitchen. It is spacious and comfortable, with the dining room an especially good social space. The Aga was excellent for cooking breakfasts for the whole party and keeping everything warm in one of the ovens so we could all eat together. There was always enough crockery, cutlery and glasses for everyone, and the dishwasher is very efficient. The location is excellent, with Malton and Pickering very close by, and York and Scarborough not much further away. Castle Howard is just minutes away, but we didn't have time to go there on this occasion. I've been before, though, and would recommend it if you have a day to spend taking in the lovely grounds, and inside the house if you must - I'm not much of a one for looking at other people's old furnishings and china and preferred the outdoor part. The house is a beautiful building, though, and it's obvious why it has featured in TV productions. The local Cantonese restauratn/pub is just a very short walk away and its food is excellent, providing eat-in or takeaway facilities. We placed our large order a few hours ahead because it was such a big order and it was ready right on time. The staff were lovely. For parties who don't want to have to cook, there are plenty of other nice-looking eating places just a short drive away. On our visit, the weather was very wet and windy, which meant we couldn't take advantage of the lovely garden and outdoor seating, though I suppose we could have done had we put on the weatherproof clothes we'd all brought. Perhaps we've just got soft now that we're older:-) Next time, though. We felt at home immediately in the cottage and would thoroughly recommend it, even for people younger than we are. It was a thoroughly successful stay in ideal surroundings.’

‘Absolutely gorgeous house. We stayed here for an 80th and it housed us all comfortably. We travelled with our 2 children (5 months 3 year old) and the room we had accommodated us all really well, a travel cot was provided, and the sofa in the room turned into a sofa bed, we had a lovely 4 poster bed and a stunning en suite. All amenities were thought of. The lounge is beautiful and very comfy... especially with the fire lit... will look forward to booking again:)’

‘Just returned from a fantastic week with friends and family staying at Station Farm. Twelve adults and two dogs. Opulence is the only way to describe the master bedroom and the stunning roll top bath situated in the ensuite. Wonderful dining room and fabulous gardens add to this superb property. Although this property has six bedrooms a couple of the bedrooms are a little on the small side however this does not spoil the ambience and total enjoyment of the experience of staying here.’

‘We were looking for the perfect place for our two families to go on holiday together, cosy but big enough for fifteen (including 5 teenagers) safe for inquisitive toddlers and dog friendly. We found all this at Station Farm... It felt cosy and welcoming straight away, even though we filled it to capacity it never felt cramped... there was enough crockery for us all to eat together and if we squeezed we could fit round the huge table (there was a second table in the dining room which was a bonus. The wifi was a great bonus though perhaps it would have been good to switch it off. The bedrooms were lovely and made up well, the place was clean and the kitchen well equipped. A brilliant place to stay and discover North Yorkshire’

‘Old Station Farm is a grand period property but still feels very homely and has everything you could need. Although our group was 12 adults and a baby there is plenty of space so that you aren't on top of one another. The local area is lovely with Malton and Castle Howard only a few miles away and a good local pub that serves Cantonese food.’

‘My husband surprised me for my 30th with all of my family. When we pulled up I was really impressed by the building... until we walked in that is. The musty smell hit me straight away and although the kitchen was modern, there were signs informing us not to touch or lean on things because they are broken (not great when you have children). Walking into the dining area the musty/damp smell becomes more obvious and the lounge was extremely uncomfortable with a broken coffee table. We soon realised after our first night that if you wanted a hot shower you would need to be the first up, otherwise you would have to wait over an hour before you could get hot water again. Door handle fell off in the main bedroom so got stuck in the room twice before we had to just prop the door open. Once we all got home all 8 of us were sick. It was because we slept in damp conditions.’

‘We stayed here for a friends Hen Do. It's not too far from York where we went for an evening meal. The cottage is very big and grand. Furnished with lovely antique and antique style furniture. We all felt very at home there. The large living room fire that we used on the first night made it very cosy and there was plenty of room for us all to sit around it and gossip and play games. There area is very nice and the people are very friendly. The pub/chinese restaurant a few doors down were very nice and accommodating and it's not far from Malton where we visited in the day which has some nice antique shops a farmers market etc. There's lots of tourist places near by like Castle Howard. It's a good place for large group of friends or a couple of families.’
