Description

A terrific, semi-detached cottage set on a quiet estate, only a two minute walk from the vast, sandy Beadnell Beach, ideal for a family holiday. This cottage offers comfortable accommodation of a high standard, including four bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom, a separate family bathroom, additional ground floor shower room and and a sunny enclosed rear garden. The sitting room has a light and airy ambience, with a warming open fire for a cosy atmosphere after a busy day on the beach. The enclosed west-facing garden is the perfect location for an alfresco snack in the evening sun, overlooking the Cheviot Hills. Beadnell village centre, with its pubs, church and convenience store, is a ten minute walk away. The Northumbrian coastline is famous for its many castles; Bamburgh, Alnwick with its famous gardens, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth are all within a short drive of Beadnell. Marine enthusiasts usually enjoy fishing trips around the Farne Islands, departing from Seahouses just a few miles away. A lovely cottage for exploring Northumberland.
Beadnell is a harbour village, which boasts shops, pubs, a harbour and a sandy beach. Seahouses is only 1.5 miles away and offers boat trips to Farne Island, along with restaurants and a supermarket, plus the market town of Alnwick with its castle and gardens are well worth exploring.

‘We arrived early September for 2 weeks and our initial thoughts were that we liked the look of the inside of the property and the advertised amenities. We had read from a guy who had previously stayed at Sandy Cove that the property next door was in a poor state so we emailed Sykes and asked for photographs of the property both front and rear and got no response - so be aware the downstairs property next door is derelict and the rear garden overgrown and an eyesore. That said we found the inside of Sandy Cove was well equipped clean and comfy. However - the following day we found the microwave didnt work and rang and reported it to Sykes - we are now 5 days into a 14 day stay and still not had a response. Since then we have discovered there is no DVD player and the washer/dryer is in fact only a washer. Not an honest description as currently advertised. There is no signal so you have to drive some distance before you can make or receive a call on your mobile so enable wi-fi calling before you arrive otherwise you could be stranded in an emergency - wi-fi connection is BT and quite good. There is little to do in Porthowan - beach is rocky/ pebbles and not a nice sandy beach - popular with surfers only. No where to eat after 7pm as the Unicorn pub stops serving meals after 7pm as it is now classed out of season - it is a nice pub though and very friendly and literally just across the lane - 2 minutes away - there is a little shop -post office open 9-6 - and a fish and chip shop open 5-8 Wed - Sat - so if you are drinking either eat in or taxi to Perenporth or St Agnes villages nearby as they have a selection of places to eat, Pack for all seasons and if weather poor on north coast - drive down to the south coast - and try a day out to the Scilly Isles by ferry from Penzance but book before travel as its a lot cheaper That said - if you can live with these negatives Sandy Cove is a good base to drive to resorts on north, south and west coast - try Carbis Bay on north coast near St Ives - we also found Gylly beach in Falmouth on south coast a lovely beach with clean toilets, parking and food and drink available - lot of beaches we have tried so far on the north coast have closed whether thats due to Covid or out of season we dont know. Enjoy and make the most of it.’

Very good
‘We stayed in this house the last week of August 2020. Its a lovely house. 3 bathrooms well big and clean and modern. The bedrooms the same, very comfortable and slept well. Looking out of your bedroom windows front and back. You can see the sea, so you do get a sea view. The living room is very comfy and modern too. TV is very good. The kitchen I think was to small sorry to say. For a family of five, to feed them all, there wasn't much room to cook. And not much room when you have the dishwasher door down. With the rubbish there wasn't much room to recycle it. There was only one been. But if you can cope with this, it's fine otherwise. When you walk outside your home. Just down the road is the beach. It's just beautiful I loved it. The weather wasn't brilliant but it never stopped us. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday. And thank you for leaving a chocolate cake for us. We did enjoy it, a very nice touch.’

‘This beautiful holiday cottage is located in the heart of Beadnell. It has a sunny enclosed garden with a patio, the perfect place to relax and have a coffee and breakfast outside in the seating area. This property is very well maintained and has a lovely seaside decor throughout the house. It is everything you need and is a home from home. First time I have ever had a welcome package and it was very much appreciated. The ideal Base as Seahouses and Alnwick are very close too. Perfect stay and will definitely book again.’

‘This is our second visit to this property and this time we didn't bother consider looking at other rentals, so please were we with our first stay. The owners have taken the time to invest in things like excellent Wi-Fi coverage which keeps everybody happy on the odd rainy day not to mention the snooker table in the garage. The house is spacious and very well equipped and maintained. We were worried first time round about it being Dog friendly but as non pet owners we couldn't detect any smell. Another big plus is the big Dining table and the large secure back garden. Situated in a lovely quiet street in a beautiful Northumberland village I struggle to fault it.’
