Description

Alnmouth 2 miles.
Situated in a rural location on a working farm, this delightful stone-built cottage is at the end of a short terrace of three. Northumberland's peaceful countryside and beautiful beaches are both within easy reach, as is the lovely coastal village of Alnmouth which provides a range of amenities. The owners live in the nearby farmhouse and personally welcome visitors. The cottage has been fully modernised and offers comfortable and spacious accommodation equipped to a high standard. French doors open on to a large shared lawn which is ideal for children. A wonderful base for a family holiday. Please note: Stephen's Cottage adjoins Brian's Cottage Ref. 208 and Dorothy's Cottage Ref. 306 and together they can accommodate up to 18 people.
Alnmouth is a delightful resort four miles east of Alnwick which is popular with golfers and holidaymakers in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Situated on a narrow spit of land between the North Sea and the River Aln, Alnmouth was originally the port for Alnwick. The area is nowa beautiful and unspoilt region which offers plenty to its visitors including a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants; a superb "links" golf course; splendid river fishing opportunities, and mile upon mile of incredible beaches and sand dunes for seaside fun.

‘Stephen's Cottage was excellent, comfortable accommodation in a fantastic location for exploring Northumberland. A short walk to the beach in Alnmouth is a must, and other lovely nearby towns are Alnwick, Seahouses, Amble, Walkworth and Bambrough Castle. The accommodation itself is 5 star, warm and comfortable and easily sleeps 6 people. The lovely hosts have thought of everything which might be needed, and their personal greeting was a lovely touch. We would like to offer a sincere thank you to Dorothy and Brian, who bent over backwards to accommodate our party, and our specific special requests.. we would love to come back, and I am sure we will.’

‘All I can say is it’s not worth the money,. When we arrived we found a stain comforter, lots of cobwebs and many spiders, The wall plates were filthy dirty and the walls themselves look like they have not been washed in a very long time. The windows were dirty they need a good cleaning. The rug on the second floor needs a good cleaning very dirty and the rug in the downstairs bedroom with the en suite had black dog hair coming out of it even after they came and vacuumed it for me. Went to make hot water to use in the French press to make coffee and the hot water pot was filthy and loaded with junk on the outside that even after I soaked it and tried washing it it didn’t clean and brown stuff poured out of it and the French press was dirty and I had to have it soak and I scrubbed it till it was somewhat usable but it was dirty, the icemaker doesn’t work the dryer doesn’t work we were told it had a washer and dryer so we all packed light dryer handle was broken which they didn’t tell us so we thought we did it but we didn’t it had been broken from the previous renter, when we went to use the dryer it didn’t turn had to hang up our stuff out on the clothesline which didn’t work because it rained. Be careful there is an electric fence outside around the animals there is no sign to let you know. The sheets on nubbie, and there was a small lack bug on my sons bed. He slept on a couch. There are exposed wires on the fireplace and I was told they weren’t live but to me it was still an ugly thing to have to look at. I was told they have been that way for a couple of years. It was listed as having three showers only had two, I had 10 people and we had to space out the showers it took us over two hours to get out of the house. The DVD player that is listed is broken. It was listed as having three showers only had two, there were 10 people and we had to space out the showers it took us over two hours to get out of the house. The sofa has a huge rip in it that they try to cover with a rough feeling throw blanket and the recliner shuts for a second and then it opens up the second you sit on it has material hanging off of it. The walls were filthy, they need a good scrubbing. Make sure to bring your own condiments of salt and pepper, toilet paper. Lightbulbs were blown had to call to be replaced. As you sat on the small couch in the TV room the little spiders would drop from the ceiling every so many minutes. That was awful.’

‘This cottage is smack bang in the middle of Rothbury and shops, pubs and restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. It is within walking distance of Cragside (well worth a visit) and a lovely walk down by the river. The cottage has a great dining kitchen and other rooms are all a decent size and very comfortable.’

‘The property is in an excellent location. We visited Tralee, Killarney, Dingle, Killorglin, Glenbiegh and many other small towns. The accommodation holds a large group very easily with scope for people to relax in the main sitting room away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. It is beautifully furnished with everything you need for a large group of people. We enjoyed our stay here so much we hope to return again for another holiday.’

‘One of three farm cottages situated a short distance inland from Alnmouth. The location is quiet and peaceful yet only a short drive to local pubs and restaurants. Walking from the farm is possible but route finding is difficult along the edge of cornfields. The cottage is clean,, warm and very comfortable, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lots of extras are included for example books, DVDs, games and tourist information. There is a large lawned area shared by all three cottages which is screened with shrubs and gated making it a safe place for young children. Centrally located for exploring the Northumbria coast.’

‘On arrival the owner called in to see if we had any problems, then left us alone for the rest of the holiday. We were delighted with the house which had two lovely bathrooms and a large kitchen which was great for six people. It also had a big walled communal garden which was ideal for children. There were lots of beautiful beaches within reach and we visited lots of castles and gardens. We did see everything at its best as we had hot, sunny weather. We can't wait to go back.’

‘We loved the location of the cottage. Beautiful beaches, castles and gardens were all within easy reach. The owner came to see us at the start of the holiday to make sure we were happy and said if there was anything we needed to contact her and then left us alone. The icing on the cake was the beautiful weather. The week wasn't long enough to see everything so we will return.’

‘Setting: Wonderful next to farm but did not experience any noise or "whiffs". Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely private garden at back of cottage. No problems with parking. Cottage: Best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Extremely clean and comfortable - actually had a comfortable sofa - (not the usual holiday cottage sit up and beg type). Kitchen appliances and equipment excellent. Bathroom lovely. Owner: Friendly, welcoming and approachable. We knew she was there to ask for help if we needed it, but left us to our devices - great. Liked Best - everything. Liked Least - Nothing - Can't think of anything to complain about!’
