Description

Coniston 2 miles. A unique superb detached single-storey cottage, with a private hot tub available up until 10pm, excellent facilities and spectacular views over the surrounding fells down to Coniston Water. This property is not suitable for hen/stag or party groups. This excellent cottage near Coniston is perfect for enjoying the Lakeland fells in quiet and serene surroundings. This Coniston cottage is ideal for restful family gatherings, with the bedrooms split up to give three sleeping areas. The farmhouse-style kitchen has a range cooker, whilst the sitting room has a woodburning stove and soft comfortable sofas that everyone in the group can relax on after a hard day out on the fells. The bright and sunny dining room seats 14, with two comfy chairs by the fireside and breathtaking views across the fields where the local sheep graze, down to Coniston Water. This Coniston cottage has six bedrooms, five with superb en-suite facilities, with the master king-size double bedroom benefiting from superb lake views. The private hot tub on the patio is ideal for sinking into at the end of a long, bracing walk in this tranquil and beautiful area. There are numerous low-level walks around the lakeshore accessible within yards of this Coniston cottage, whilst the Old Man of Coniston will prove ideal for the more adventurous. The whole area is perfect for mountain biking, with Grizedale Forest and Walna Scar within easy striking distance. Coniston village is just 2 miles away, and Torver is only 0.5 miles along the old railway line path, handy for the daily papers and fresh home-made bread. Bustling Ambleside is just 30 minutes' drive away and has a host of excellent restaurants, shops, and outdoor shops to explore. Why not return via the Langdale Valley through Chapel Stile and Little Langdale, watching out for the Herdwick sheep who amble freely? Return to your Coniston cottage and enjoy the lovely cosy woodburning stove and the relaxing hot tub to re-charge your batteries in peace and quiet ready for the next day.
Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park and makes a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside and Windermere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing is available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For water sports enthusiasts the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola'.

‘We couldn't have asked for more. Browside had everything that we needed; the rooms were spacious so our group never felt on top of eachother & the views were amazing. It is in a great location with the shops only a short walk/drive away & not too far from other places to visit. The hot tub was an absolute bonus overlooking fields with sheep! I would highly recommend this to anyone as I am absolutely certain you'll have a pleasurable stay as we certainly didn't want to leave!’

‘Fab accommodation for 14. All on the level for our mixed age party 25-86! Home from home kitchen. Only issue was intermittent wi-fi. Out-with owners control!’

‘We stayed here in January for a celebrations with family and friends. The whole week was perfect. We had lovely walk along to Coniston and popped in at the The Bluebird Café on the waters edge. Also a short walk to Torver and if you go you must check out the telephone box. We also went on short walks to Tarn Howe and Rydal water and cave. The hot tub was super. Although it was January, on a clear night with the dark skies, the stars were amazing. The accommodation was clean and fitted the needs of 8 – 73 year olds. We never felt overlooked at all. Would certainly go back. Thank you !’

‘We have just returned from a week at this house. Four generations of the family attended making a party of 11. The house was perfect providing great space for family social time, but also providing privacy and quietness through well equipped en-suite bedrooms for those times when you wanted to have a little time relaxing on your own. The owners live next door and have achieved the perfect balance of being there if you need them but not intruding on your stay. The views from the windows are stunning and you are perfectly placed to explore the southern lakes.’

‘The house was well equipped for a large family group with good bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. The location was excellent, we were able to walk to the lake in about 20 minutes and get access onto the lake. The views are wonderful and there is direct access to the Old Man of Coniston.’

‘This is probably the best equipped and positioned cottage we have ever stayed in. The beds were lovely and comfortable, the cottage was very well equipped and the setting was perfect. There were lots of lovely walks nearby with Coniston a short walk away. I cannot recommend the cottage highly enough.’
