Description

Launceston 0.8 miles.
A contemporary detached barn conversion situated off the beaten track on a non-working farm on the woody slopes above Launceston, this cottage provides a light and airy holiday retreat with some dramatic views of Dartmoor National Park towards Brentor. Furnished in a comfortable modern style, this Launceston cottage still gives a taste of rural living. The spacious open plan living area of this Launceston cottage has large patio doors opening to the landscaped terraced garden, where there is a pleasant terrace to sit and unwind. Alternatively, take a walk through the pretty, private woods surrounding the farm. For a refreshing drink, the picturesque Eliot Arms is 2 miles from this Launceston cottage, situated in the centre of the Cornish village of Tregadillett. This rural cottage near Launceston provides an excellent base for touring in the region as it is within a short distance of Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and the north Cornish resorts at Bude, Widemouth Bay, Boscastle and Tintagel. The beautiful National Trust Lydford Gorge is within 20 minutes' drive of this Launceston cottage, as is Cornwall's premier tourist attraction, the Eden Project. There are many attractions in the area including Launceston Castle, the steam railway which chugs through the glorious Kensey Valley, the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre, as well as two golf courses within three miles. A Launceston cottage in a country setting, with access to loads of activities.
Launceston is situated on the Devon and Cornwall border and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle which sits high above the town. Launceston also offers wonderful architecture including exquisite Georgian buildings. Just three miles away is the Tamar Otter Park and taking a trip on the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5 mile round trip is essential. Other places to visit are the stunning Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor and with delightful seaside towns nearby, Launceston is a perfect base all year round.

‘So peaceful and comfortable. Made for a great Christmas week away, the stars at night were amazing. Underfloor heating made for a very cosy feel. Only thing missing for us was a freezer however being December, we used the shed with some ice as a makeshift drinks cooler which worked wonders. Would thoroughly recommend to any couple who enjoys peace and tranquillity!’

It has fantastic views out over Launceston and the surrounding area, it is uphill and has a woodland walk straight from the door. It has plenty of parking and an outside dog run/patio area/BBQ. The underfloor heating works perfectly. We liked the place that much we've already booked it again for the summer.’

‘This barn conversion is on a hill overlooking a valley with wonderful views of farmlands and part of Launceston. It is spacious and well appointed with oven, hot plates, microwave, toaster and washing machine. Accesss is via a bitumen driveway with a good parking area adjacent to the barn. You can enjoy a walk along a path through wooded area at the bottom of the farm. The barn has underfloor heating which maintained a constant cosy temperature throughout our stay. There is also a good towel warmer in the bathroom. Shower over bath but the bath is shaped to provide a good standing area for showering which is really good. The bed was comfortable. The barn is beautifully presented and welcoming. It provides a great base from which to explore Cornwall and adjacent Devon, with Tintagel and Port Isaac about 40 minutes away, The Eden Project about 45 minutes drive and Lands End about 1hr 40 minutes away. Alternatively the barn also provides a pleasant relaxing environment and if the weather turns sour, it provides a cosy retreat with good TV options. There is no WiFi access so I had to detach from the internet and relax for the week. Overall this barn provides a lovely rural retreat in Cornwall and we would love to come back some day.’

‘Just arrived back from a lovely three nights at middle barn. The barn was faultless sparkerley clean tastefully decorated, and the most compfy bed, nice and cosy. Arrived to a warm welcome from the owner, who I might add didnt bother us but we could contact if needed. Arrived to a nice cold bottle of wine and many extras we didnt expect. The veiws were stunning, situated on top a hill over looking fields and some woods, our yorkshire terrier loved the walks in the woods, we see lots of dears in the wood to. All in all a truley lovely place. The town was five mins walk away but to be quite honest I would'nt bother. We didnt use any of the local pubs as we felt they all looked a bit rough. A car is a must as you will need to travel to go out for the day.’

‘The cottage was the ideal break for us, our newborn daughter and our energetic dog, BamBam! The property was beautifully decorated and cleaned to a very high standard and we arrived to tea, coffee and a bottle of wine (much needed after a long car journey!) Surrounded by fields and a small woodland it provided plenty of entertainment for our dog and was nearby to many other walking areas, too many to fit in in one week! As previously said by another reviewer, we didn't dine out much in the evening as it would have been a waste not to enjoy the views cooking for ourselves. Would recommend this property to anyone looking for a holiday let and are planning to book again.’
