This lovely barn conversion, attached to the owners' farmhouse, is situated 2 miles from the pretty village of Parwich and 9 miles from Ashbourne. Full of charm and boasting views over the surrounding countryside, this Peak District cottage offers a well-equipped kitchen with dining area, a cosy sitting room with an electric woodburner-effect stove, two comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside this Parwich cottage is off road parking for two cars, and a patio area, where you can enjoy a cold drink whilst admiring the wonderful views, or you may wish to make friends with the owners' donkeys! This Parwich cottage is an ideal base to get away from it all and enjoy a country break in the stunning Peak District National Park. Note: This cottage is next to Ref 19144, together they sleep 8.
Set in lush, green surroundings, the lovely village of Parwich has a great number of local amenities. With a traditional country pub set on the village green, a church, village hall and playground situated amidst pretty cottages and rolling hills, this little town is a wonderful getaway for anyone who yearns for peace and quiet. Dating from Saxon times, the village is steeped in history with the remains of a Roman farm at nearby Roystone Grange. There is plenty to do in the local area, such as walking the Manifold Trail which follows the old Leek to Manifold light railway. There is also the award winning village of Alstonefield to visit and within seven miles are great facilities for horse riding, cycling, sailing and golfing. Alton Towers is also close by, as are Chatsworth House, Kedleston and Sudbury Halls.

‘I cannot recommend this cottage enough. So cozy and welcoming. The goats and donkeys were also very welcoming and my 2 children couldn’t wait to feed them apple slices and carrots each morning. Very close to Ashbourne which was such a find - full of lovely shops and cafes.’

‘Have stayed in both dover barn and bluebird cottage, fantastic location for some lovely places to visit, tissington, milldale, dovedale, parwich all very close. both the cottage and the barn are well equipped and very clean, warm and comfortable. the farm is quiet and on a road with little traffic. the owners live on site but unless you need them you would not know they were there. we shall most certainly be staying again.’

‘This was a return visit for us, we adore this property. Bluebird cottage itself is well equipped with everything you need and is well presented throughout. It has a large kitchen diner that leads on to a nice sitting room with TV and DVD player. There is then a door out to the secure walled garden that is shared with thy holiday cottage next door. The garden is huge. Upstairs there is a very big master bedroom, a twin and a nice bath room. The cottage is great and is situated on the yard of the farm. There are goats, horses, donkies, sheep, farm dogs and a cat. Our children adore them all and love feeding and stroking them, my son cried when we left. The owners are the best we have had when staying in cottages. They make you so welcome. They answered the thousands of questions my son had about every aspect on the farm and genuinely enjoy having guests. In summary the cottage is great but the holiday is made by the people and the animals. We will definitely be back next year’

Very good
‘We enjoyed the location, convenient for exploring the region - surrounded by fields but, being joined to the owner's farmhouse, it did not feel isolated. The cottage faced a concrete yard, field and barns (rustic - not chocolate box so could do with 'softening' a bit for holiday purposes - grassy garden behind (didn't use this so don't know if it would have suited families). The cottage was charming and larger than expected. We took advantage of a slight discount but on arrival realised it was probably given as the adjacent barn was being converted into a cottage - it would not have deterred us but would have appreciated knowing that in advance. As we were using the cottage as a base for exploring the region it didn't inconvenience us but may have done if we were planning just a quiet retreat. We would be happy to go back again.’
