A detached stone-built conversion of a former farm building, in a fantastic hillside location on the outskirts of the marina village of Y Felinheli, just 5 miles from Caernarfon. Overlooking the beautiful Menai Straits and Isle of Anglesey beyond, Penrallt Cottage is decorated and furnished in a pleasing combination of traditional and contemporary styles. The patio area is perfect for relaxing, dining alfresco and enjoying the spectacular view. A cycle path runs just 2 minutes from the property, while within a mile is the Plas Menai National Watersports Centre, with indoor swimming pool. This wonderful location offers stunning sandy beaches, cascading rivers and waterfalls. Discover famous castles, mountain railways, the Snowdonia National Park, beautiful Llyn Peninsula and the Isle of Anglesey, all within travelling distance. Note: This property is adjacent to Ref. 3779, and together they accommodate 8.
Formerly known as Port Dinorwic, Y Felinheli is situated on the beautiful Menai Straits between the historic town of Caernarfon and the cathedral city of Bangor. This lovely harbour town is home to a small, established yachting marina with an interesting lock, which allows boats to enter or leave before cruising down the Straits to the open sea. There is also a wide selection of amenities in the village as well as pubs, restaurants, shops and a hotel, whilst just two miles away is an award-winning five-star restaurant for something a little more special. The landscape of this pretty region is incredibly diverse and offers the stunning mountain of Snowdonia, the beautiful Lleyn Peninsula, and the sandy beaches of the Isle of Anglesey â all of which are within easy driving distance.

‘Lovely, spacious cottage overlooking the Menai Straits and Anglesey. The place was spotless when we arrived and was very well equipped. I loved that there were shelves and hooks and storage spaces to put our stuff. This is very high up on my requirements. The rooms were of good size, with a good utility room to put our shoes and other outdoor things. The location was great and very quiet, close to many tourist spots and 3 mins drive from Greenwood Adventure Park, which my kids loved. 5 mins walk down to the local village down a path that was steep in parts, but my 3 year old and MIL with a bad hip managed it most evenings, so it was fine. It's not for buggies or wheelchairs though. I'd highly recommend La Marina in Y Felinheli, where the food was amazing. The owners live next door and were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.’

‘My father and I booked a weeks holiday at Penrallt Cottage and we fell in love with the cottage as soon as we arrived. The weather was fine and the views across the Menai Strait were fantastic. The cottage had everything that we needed for a relaxing week's holiday. We met Osian the owner who was very polite and friendly and gave us useful advice on nearby attractions, eateries etc. Penrallt is situated ideally for a base to explore and enjoy North Wales and Anglesey. The weather did turn colder/wetter towards the end of the week, then it was the end of September/beginning of October and it never stopped us getting out and about. Only disappointment was getting on the steam train for the top of Snowdon in sunny weather, but by the time we reached the summit it was a complete white-out! We will just have to come back again! All in all a brilliant week in a lovely cottage in a beautiful country!’

‘It is a wonderful view from a wonderful cottage. This has been the highlight of our stay so far in the UK. We love the look of the old exterior, but the interior is modern clean and very comfortable. The location up on a hill is great, and makes it feel as though we are miles from town, yet the drive to shopping and dining is short. The location is also convenient to Caernarfon and Conwy, and we even made a quick run to Holyhead. I would suggest that those travelling to the UK spend less time in London and more time here in North Wales, we wish we had!’

They are very friendly and cooperative if there is a question - the area around the cottage and the views are very lovely (the sunsets are sensational) - it is a good place to start activities as e. g. to Snowdon, Canaerfon, Bangor, Anglesey, Conwy, the Ffestiniog Railway - also the weather was ok - most of the time dry and sometimes a bit of sunshine. We had a nice week.’

‘The cottage was well-equipped, nicely-furnished and very comfortable. The lovely views over the Menai Straits were gorgeous and we had excellent weather to appreciate them fully. We enjoyed our holiday very much. Only 3 less-positive comments: The '5 mins downhill walk' was over-optimistic re. timing and it is pretty steep. (We are fit and regularly walk in the countryside but after doing the walk on the first evening we didn't repeat it.) Access by car involves negotiating a very sharp left turn. We coped but wouldn't recommend it for a nervous driver. The 'written directions' mention a 'sharp left turn' but I would add the word 'very' to emphasise that. We were disappointed at the 'selection of pubs, restaurants...' as there was only one pub within a short walking distance of the cottage and the meal we had there was very poor. Your description of Y Felinheli suggested a more thriving community with a good selection of eating places. We would have liked to have eaten out in the village more often.’
