Couples Holidays in Santorini

Oia is a small town that's perched on the cliffs, giving a perfect island view at sunset. There are plenty of places to take in the vista, including a lot of open-air restaurants where you can nurse a glass of retsina and a dish of fresh local seafood, before watching the deep yellows, oranges and pinks light up the sky. It can get a little busy with tourists, so try to find somewhere a little more off the beaten track.

Santorini has dozens of wineries, and many of them offer tours with local guides. They will take you through the shady vineyards and teach you about the different varieties of wine, allowing you to sample several of them along the way. Some tours also offer lunch, giving you an opportunity to meet and chat with other couples.

Lots of Santorini's beaches are rocky, but Perissa Beach is made from fine, black volcanic sand. It's a popular destination with both locals and visitors, so there's a lot to do in and around the beach, including beach bars and restaurants, watersports, and boat hire. There are so many sun loungers for sunbathing, and with Santorini's sunny, hot climate, you can relax and unwind together, listening to the waves.

The town of Fira is at the top of a steep set of stairs that is usually navigated with donkeys. You can still take a donkey ride to the top for an authentic experience! For something a little more sedate, you can take a cable car to the top. Although it's only a short journey, the cable car gives great views of the island and the sea.

Taking a hike can be a great way to beat Santorini's crowds. This charming hiking trail takes you through several villages where you can stop for a drink and take in the views. You should be able to experience the quieter, more tranquil side of the island, and you can spend some quality time together exploring hidden parts of Santorini.
