Saugatuck Dunes State Park
This 1,120-acre State Park on the shores of Lake Michigan features hiking trails through amazing sand dunes and beaches along the 2.5 ml. of shore line. Hikers, birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts flock here for the wildlife, beautiful scenery and tranquillity.
Oval Beach
With its pristine white sands, Oval Beach is the perfect spot for sunbathing. Named by MTV as one of the top five beaches in the United States, it's a great place to spend time building sandcastles with the kids or just lie back and enjoy the sun.
Mount Baldhead Park
This loop trail including 300-plus steps is popular for hiking and trail running, and is accessible from June through September. Attractive wild flowers and spectacular views are rewards for those energetic enough to make it to the top.
Kalamazoo River
This 130 ml. river that runs into Lake Michigan offers the opportunity for a number of fun water-based activities including kayaking and canoeing. Passing through Saugatuck, it is also great for wildlife spotting and leisurely cruises.
Butler Street
Named after the founder of Saugatuck, William Gay Butler, this street has a charming, small town appeal. It's a meeting ground for artists, and has a number of independent galleries along it. It's also a haven for shoppers, with boutiques selling clothing, unique gift items and household furnishings.
