The Top 5 Ski Resorts in Slovenia

The Top 5 Ski Resorts in Slovenia

Slovenia offers a plethora of ski destinations ranging from extensive amenity-rich resorts to secluded retreats. Its uncrowded pistes, skiing trails, and countless miles of slopes are the highlights of any Slovenian skiing holiday.

  1. Bled

The beautiful ski resort has a mini Bled island which consists of tall trees and buildings huddled under a Gothic church, surrounded by a glacial lake. The Julian Alps surround the lake, with jagged peaks and forested foothills. The Straza chairlift takes you up the Straza hill which is fitted with floodlights and snow cannons, allowing holidaymakers to ski day and night.

  2. Bohinj

Covering three spectacular valleys, Bohinj also features the highest mountain and most significant lake in Slovenia. Home to Triglav National Park, the local ski resort has a substantial ski area with about 13 miles of pistes. Young holidaymakers can visit the children's park which has magic carpet lifts and a toboggan run. Intermediate skiers can take the Stirisedeznica chairlift to Kritz runs or Orlove glave and ski down to the mid-station.

  3. Kranjska

Kranjska features high-quality ski resorts where young vacationers and beginners can learn skiing. Beginner skiers can take the Dolencev Rut chair which takes them to blue trails for skiing back to town, while Podkoren has steep black trails for advanced skiers. Freestyle skiers can take the Kekec chairlift to the snow park. Check out Gora, the traditional Alpine town, which lies on the edge of Triglav National Park. The beautiful Piscina and Sava rivers run on either side of the resort.

  4. Golte Ski Resort

This resort offers breathtaking views of the Savinjske Alps and Karavanke mountains which lie above Morzine town. With 7 miles of skiing slopes and 2 miles of cross country skiing tracks, the resort is ideal for skiing holidays. The resort's hotel offers delicious cuisine as well as massage and wellness centres and plenty of pool areas.

  5. Krvavec Ski Resort

This resort lies close to Ljubljana airport and is reachable by gondola rides from the valley floor. Artificial snow and top altitudes attract plenty of travellers for skiing holidays. Skiing in Krvavec gives holidaymakers beautiful views of the Julian Alps and Ljubljana hills. Beginners can find gentle slopes next to the upper cable car station. Krvavec even has a ski school. Advanced skiers can take the chairlift to the top of Krvavec and ski on more challenging slopes.
