We stayed for two nights to go to the Sydney NYE fireworks. The pluses - clean bathrooms and surrounds, plentiful hot water, comfortable bed, shared kitchen, helpful staff and free parking. The minuses - public transport links within North Sydney itself are poor, it took 2.5 hours by public transport to travel 6.5 kilometres from near Taroonza zoo on the way back from the fireworks. The cost - there was a 100 percent markup on the tariff because we were there for NYE but this is standard for Sydney at that time of year.

Sydney is well known for its amazing landmarks and sights. If you book accommodation in central Sydney you can explore Sydney and its sights with ease on a daily basis. Things to see include the colossal Sydney Opera House, which is an iconic Australian performing arts venue. With its sweeping white architecture, this structure is recognised around the world. Numerous walking routes, boat rides and water tours are available all around the harbour. While you are there, pay a visit to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, also known as the “Coathanger”, which is an interestingly shaped 1930s structure stretching over the harbour. If you are not afraid of heights, get into a rig and take a tour of the top of the bridge.
