This Dorset beach is great if you have small children, as the beach gently slopes into the sea, making it very safe. The atmosphere is friendly, there are plenty of family-friendly facilities, and there is also great accommodation in nearby Poole. Enjoy a traditional ice-cream or fish and chips by the water, pack a picnic to enjoy on the sand, and enjoy crazy-golf, slacklining, volleyball on the beach or one of the many other activities put on for visitors.
This is a hugely trendy destination for UK travellers and overseas tourists, and with 15 miles of glorious unspoilt beaches it's not hard to see why. Enjoy water sports, delicious food on the front, excellent services, and plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants in walking distance of the main beach stretch. It's also a good spot for celebrity-spotting!
The North West's only Blue Flag beach has plenty to attract family visitors, including a centre packed with interesting shells and local finds, free bicycle hire, and untouched sands with gorgeous views to match. Take younger children here to enjoy relaxation, quiet and the great outdoors, and head to the nearby village for some excellent cafes and restaurants. Just be mindful that there isn't lifeguard cover at the beach, but there are plenty of safety advice signs to help you paddle without concern.
This beach is perfect for the classic seaside holiday experience. The sands are extensive and kept beautifully clean, and the seaside resort is filled with places to eat, a funfair, rides, activities, a land train, and plenty more. Look out for the beautiful floral displays too which really make the town a picture during the warmer months.
This southern beach next to Portsmouth is a great family centre for things to explore. Alongside the beach itself there is a pier, various cafes and restaurants, and the SeaLife Centre. It's also just a short walking distance to key attractions such as the Old Harbour and modern Gunwharf Quays with its Spinnaker Tower and leisure facilities.
