The Top 5 Ski Resorts In The UK

The Top 5 Ski Resorts In The UK

The best ski resorts in the UK are in Scotland, but if you can dust off your ski gear at short notice, then Wales and England also provide lovely skiing experiences.

  1. Glenshee Ski Centre

With over 40 kilometres of downhill runs across four mountains, Glenshee is the biggest ski resort in the UK. The facility offers 22 lifts and 36 runs, providing varieties of slopes for every level of skiing and snowboarding ability. The Base Cafe opens year round, while the Braemar ski centre runs from mid-December to April. When the conditions are good, skiing is excellent on Glenshee with its testing slalom, a natural half-pipe, and open pistes. Queues can be substantial when the snow is abundant but you can book online to save time.

  2. Cairngorm Mountain

One of Scotland's premier skiing and snowboarding destinations, Cairngorm Mountain has a funicular railway and 11 lifts that carry you to the summit. At the mountain top, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the beautiful scenery. There are 30 kilometres of ski runs ideal for beginners, intermediate and expert skiers, and snowboarders.

  3. Nevis Range

If the kids are tagging along, the best ski resort in the UK is probably Nevis Range. You can choose from many green and blue runs near the top station, making it ideal for beginners. The ski area has 12 lifts, including the only gondola in Scotland which takes you 650 metres to the top. Nevis is perfect for backcountry skiing too, but this requires expertise and the appropriate equipment.

  4. Yad Moss

If you are in the south, Yad Moss is a great place to enjoy skiing holidays in the UK. It has the longest single-button lift in England, and its high plateaus and dales are perfect for cross-country skiing. Yad Moss sells day tickets, but it is a membership-based slope. The slope is not the best for beginners but it is excellent for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders.

  5. Glencoe Mountain Resort

Perfect your skiing strokes on the gentle runs of this popular ski resort in Argyll. With an incredible scenery and modern amenities, Glencoe offers captivating photo opportunities and exceptional skiing for families. It has 8 lifts and 20 runs for all levels of skiing and snowboarding. Take advantage of the private and group lessons and enjoy the best of Scottish cuisine at the café.
