Ah, Venice. Somewhere between a dream and a city, its sparkling waterways and sunset-reflecting bays hover in the memory like a mirage. The insubstantial air of the city and fragile glass blown in nearby Murano conceal the city's formidable history. Once the seat of European commerce and boasting a fearsome fleet, Venice was built on wealth and power – not just water.
A lovely place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days in Venice. What wasn't specified by HtG was that there would be a 300€ cash deposit when the key was handed over. We found this out once we had paid to reserve the apartment and HtG referred us to local agents, Interhome. Some of the details about the apartment need updating eg coffee making facilities and one of the bedrooms was quite small. However, overall it was lovely to be in the Arsenale area and stay somewhere in true Venetian style. The beds were comfortable and bed linen clean and a good feel about the apartment, especially with a view directly onto a canal. Our handover was great. Montse was very friendly, helpful and flexible with arrangements.
