Best Cycling Routes in the Yorkshire Dales

Whether you're an experienced cyclist seeking a challenge or more of an urban biker simply looking to discover Yorkshire on two wheels, cycling holidays in the Yorkshire Dales offer something for everyone. There are plenty of diverse routes, letting you easily plan the ideal cycle trip.

  • 1. The Swale Trail

    This route is ideal for young mountain bikers and families who want to stick together. The route is 19km. in total and runs through the valleys of Yorkshire National Park, and follows the path of the River Swale. Cycle between the villages of Reeth and Keld and enjoy the many cafes and shops along the way.

  • 2. Kidstones Path

    You may recognise the name of this route as it was the same route taken during the 2014 Tour de France event. It stretches out over 40km., and offers a series of flat routes and steep hill climbs. Begin at the village of Grassington and enjoy the scenic views, ending at Wharfedale.

  • 3. Yorkshire Dales Cycleway

    If you are up for a challenge, then this circular route is the one for you. Stretching over 210km., the route takes you through the breathtaking Yorkshire National Park and most of its famous dales. You will start the adventure at Skipton and finish the cycle there, too.
